We Built the Sports Platform
Vancouver Deserves.
Sportster makes playing sports as easy as ordering food. One app for booking courts, finding pickup games, and connecting with players.
The Problem
Booking a sports court in Vancouver means phone calls, walk-ins, or navigating outdated websites. Finding people to play with means WhatsApp groups and hoping enough people show up. Every sport has its own fragmented system, and none of them talk to each other.
We talked to hundreds of players and venue owners across Metro Vancouver. The frustration was universal: players want to play more but can't find courts or partners easily. Venue owners have empty courts during off-peak hours but no efficient way to fill them. Sportster bridges that gap.
What We Built
Sportster is four products sharing one backend:
- Mobile App (iOS & Android) — Browse venues, book courts with real-time availability, join pickup games, chat with players, post in the community feed, get push notifications for everything.
- Venue Dashboard — Manage bookings, staff, resources, pricing, and holidays from one place. Automated confirmations. Stripe payouts.
- Admin Dashboard — Platform management for content moderation, analytics, feature flags, and user support.
- Website — Marketing, SEO landing pages, and waitlist signup at sportsters.ca.
Vancouver First
We chose Vancouver because it is one of the most active sports cities in Canada. The badminton community in Richmond alone supports 18-court facilities. Pickleball is growing faster here than anywhere else in BC. Basketball pickup runs at Trout Lake draw dozens of players every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Vancouver has the demand — it just needs a better way to connect players with courts and each other.
We are building the model right here before expanding to other Canadian cities. Every feature, every venue partnership, every community interaction is shaped by what Vancouver players and venue owners tell us they need.
Who We Are
Sportster was founded by sports enthusiasts in Vancouver who got tired of booking courts through phone calls, Facebook groups, and fragmented municipal websites. We built the platform we wished had existed when we moved to the city and were trying to find a badminton partner at Hillcrest on a Thursday night.
Our team is based in Vancouver and plays the sports on the platform. We are building Sportster because we believe recreational sports are one of the best ways to build community, stay healthy, and meet people in a new city — and the infrastructure for it has never matched the demand.

Supported Sports
Badminton, basketball, pickleball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, running, rock climbing, cycling, swimming, martial arts, and winter sports. We add more based on what the community plays. If your sport is not listed, tell us — we are building this for you.
For Venue Owners
Founding venue partners get 12 months free on the platform. No upfront cost, no risk. We bring you new players during your quiet hours, handle payment processing through Stripe, and give you a dashboard to manage everything. After 12 months, you choose between a flat monthly fee or a commission on Sportster bookings.
